Meet The MCUK Ambassadors; Kirsty

Meet Kirsty - Ms Curvaceous UK Ambassador & Plus Size Model

1) Why did you apply for MCUK?
I was originally contacted and asked to apply for MCUK. I didn't know much about them but after a bit of research it was clear that this was for me. As a curvy woman I have previously struggled with self confidence & often found that images of the 'ideal body' that are portrayed in the media are unrealistic for the majority of women. I want to see more company's using beautiful curvy women to advertise their clothes and products and in doing so, self love and body confidence will be boosted dramatically. Being involved in this change is something that I am very passionate about and MCUK are about doing just that!

2) So, you weren’t picked as one of the 20 finalists, but you were given the extraordinary opportunity to become an Ambassador for the brand. What were your initial feelings when you found out you weren’t a finalist?
I was very disappointed about not making the top 20 finalists for the competition. I suffer with a rare illness called Behçet's disease which has caused a lot of changes in my body shape over the last few years, along with making living my life quite hard at times. I wanted to be a finalist so I could show other people with chronic diseases that their diagnosis doesn't signal the end of things. Life may change, our bodies may change but we can still achieve so much.

3) What does it mean to you to be named an Ambassador of the MCUK brand?

It means the world to me to be named an Ambassador for the MCUK brand. I am hoping that as an ambassador I can help to inspire other people to accept and love their bodies for the curvy gorgeous beings that they are. I can't wait to be a part of the change that is happening in the fashion industry and within the media. If I can inspire just one person to look in the mirror and think, 'wow I'm proud of who you are and all you have achieved' then I will be one happy lady!

4) What does 2015 hold for you?
2015 holds a whole host of fun things for me. I will be kicking off the year rocking the catwalk at the Grand Final of MS Curvaceous UK. Then with positivity, determination and a smile my future possibilities are endless!!
